Sequence Verification Help File |

The 15,247 cDNA clones of the NIA Mouse 15K cDNA Clone Set are arrayed among 159 96-well microtiter plates (numbered H3001 to H3159).
Each Sequence verification page is a diagram depicting, in the format of a 96-well microtiter plate, all of the sequence verification information. That is, each well of each plate is represented by the row and column heading on the page. Please visit http://lgsun.grc.nia.nih.gov/help.html for details regarding clone addressing/naming.
Each cell in the diagram has a number or letter(s). The number represents the "Score" (see 15K help file) of the homology between the 3' sequences of the 15K rearray and each of their source (Parent) clone 3' sequence. The letter "U" for Unverifiable, indicates that the sequence information obtained from resequencing is not sufficient to verify either the sequence or the clone's residence. The letter "O" for Orphan, indicates that the sequence has been verified by multiple sequence attempts, but that the sequence indicates no definitive connection between the rearrayed clone (Daughter) and it's original source (Parent) clone. This phenomenon is seen in 245 clones. In most cases it is clear that there is a problem with the addressing of the source (Parent) clones, such as two plates having been switched for example. Since these instances have yet to be resolved, but the sequences have been verified by further sequencing, we are calling these clones "verified" but we have termed them "Orphans." Efforts are being made to resolve the few instances where this occurs. The letter "N/A" indicate that the sequence has not been verified because either the clone has not been analyzed yet or we feel the homology does not clearly indicate a verified sequence, we would prefer to leave it to the discretion of the individual researcher analyzing the clone.
Either of the 3' or 5' sequence information for each is sufficient to verify the clone's residence. The data presented in these pages, however, is only the verification of the 3' sequences. If the data is positively verified by the 3' sequence data demonstrated here, then the clone address is verified. The 5' sequence information provides clone address verification for an additional 200 clones. The data is not shown in these pages.
CAUTION: The sequence verification provided here should never be taken as a substitute for sequencing clones isolated for further experiments.
